Totnes Kayaks Academy was started due entirely to customer demand! Once boats and kit were bought they often came back to us asking for help getting out on the water to develop their paddling skills.

We decided very early on that we did not want to compete with local paddling clubs, who we support, but sometimes their timetables do not suit everyone and they cannot progress the more proficient paddlers. We also think it's important to keep group numbers low so that you get lots of one to one tuition, and we use only the best coaches available in the South West. Meet our coaches

The Spring/Summer 2010 programme includes kayak and sit on top fun days, kids holiday clubs, womens only beak out sessions, Dart Estuary guided trips, Discover Kayaking/Progressive Kayaking courses linked into the BCU UKCC (British Canoe Union) awards scheme, canoeing courses (both solo and tandem), sea and white water kayaking skills as well as trips and expeditions.

We also run BCU professional coach qualification courses for paddlers looking to get into coaching at there local clubs or making a career in paddlesport. Courses include Level 1 coach, Level 2 training and various CPD (Continuing Professional Development) evenings including coaching the mind and fitness in paddlesport.
