White Water Fundamentals
Course Aim:
So you are happy with paddling on flat water rivers, estuaries or lakes and feel like you would like to try moving water. This one day workshop will take you out of
your comfort zone and introduce you to the fundamentals of moving water including equipment, dynamic body position/boat setup, paddle and boat positioning on
the water and giving you a chance to paddle this new environment in the safety of a organised group.
           
Pre Requisites:
Good intermediate paddling skills. (BCU/UKCC Two star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:

1 Day workshop 9.30 to 4.30 (7 Hours)
Four participants max


Achievement:

Confidence in paddling on grade two rivers. River Dart Holne to Staverton section etc.

Cost: One person £60.00 

Classic Weekend Grade 2/3
Course Aim:
You just want to get out and paddle on Grade 2 water but want to have someone qualified along that knows the rivers and can help you if required...Then let us help! You will Join a small group with similar skills and over two days get to paddle a number of Grade 2/3 rivers in the South West. Paddling top tips will be given and guidance running down some of the most beautiful rivers in the country. 
           
Pre Requisites:
Good intermediate paddling skills. (BCU UKCC Two star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:
2 Days 9.30 to 4.30 (14 Hours) Four participants max


Achievement:
Confidence in paddling on grade two rivers. River Dart Holne to Staverton, Loop section etc.


Dates: 8-9/11/08, 7-8/02/09
Cost: One person £150.00


White Water Intermediate
Course Aim:
So you want to paddled the famous “Loop” but not sure how to go about it, or if your skills are up to it? Well now is your chance! This one day workshop will take
you through moving water paddle skills including breaking in/out, ferry gliding, making eddies and starting to understand reading the river to make sure you make the best route down.
             
Pre Requisites:
Confident on grade two rivers. (BCU/UKCC Three star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:
1 Day workshop 9.30 to 4.30 (7 Hours)
Four participants max


Achievement:
Becoming a proactive paddler and confident on grade two/three rivers. Dart loop etc.

Cost: One person £60.00 

Classic weekend Grade 3/4
Course Aim:
Stepping up to that next level of paddling on Grade 3/4 water can be quite daunting and equally hard to find someone to guide you! Then let us help! You will join a small group with similar skills and over two days get to paddle a number of Grade 3/4 rivers in the South West. Paddling top tips will be given and guidance running down some of the most beautiful but harder rivers in the country. 
           
Pre Requisites:
Good intermediate paddling skills. (BCU UKCC Three star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:
2 Days 9.30 to 4.30 (14 Hours) Four participants max


Achievement:
Confidence in paddling on grade Three/Four rivers. River Dart Upper section etc.

29-30/11/08, 21-22/02/09
Cost: One person £150.00


White Water Advanced
Course Aim:
So you have run lovers leap and make every eddy and the washing machine holds no fears then why not move up river to grade four? This exhilarating area of
kayaking is achievable with the right direction which is gained on this one day workshop. It will take you to the Erme / upper Dart and introduce you to dynamic
body/boat positioning, reading correct lines, boofing, flaring and running small drops.
              
Pre Requisites:
Confident on grade three rivers. (BCU/UKCC Four star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:
1 Day workshop 9.30 to 4.30 (7 Hours) Four participants max


Achievement:

Becoming a proactive paddler and confident on grade four rivers. Upper Dart, Erme etc.

White Water Safety and Rescue
Course Aim:
Progressing from flat water paddling into moving water is exhilarating and builds your personal skills to new levels, but what happens if things go wrong? Being
confident in rescue techniques can not only help you but also your fellow paddlers. This two day workshop follows a reconised BCU structure covering equipment,
helmets, throw lines, defensive / aggressive swimming, harnesses and rapid protection.
       
Pre Requisites:
Good intermediate paddling skills. (BCU/UKCC Two star or above). You can use your own boat or demo boats can be booked through Totnes Kayaks.


Course Duration:

2 Day workshop 9.30 to 4.30 each day (14 Hours)
Six participants max


Achievement:

BCU safety and rescue qualification. Feel safe as a group when things go wrong and confidence in dealing with any situations arising from paddling on moving water.
